Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

The business lists hours on 4 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–4:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (919) 781-6600. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, raleighfacialpain.com.

Customers rate it 4.9 out of 5 on Google across 7 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded dental clinics in Raleigh.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Dr. Yount and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable, informative, and helpful in the management of TMJ pain. I have gone to other TMJ doctors and have received neither the support nor the proper treatment that can help heal my jaw until I went and saw Dr. Yount. I highly recommend Raleigh Facial Pain Center!

Dr. Yount and his team have helped me with my TMD significantly. I was feeling hopeless by the time I walked into his office and was skeptical to it working and not needing surgery. Here I am 5 months later in a completely different place! He is kind, honest, and truly wants to help each person who walks through his doors. For treatment I used a splint, worked with a PT, met with a biofeedback specialist, used pain medication to start, and worked through lifestyle changes with him each session. You meet with him regularly to adjust your splint and discuss concerns, questions, and what’s next in your healing process. I am so thankful for his expertise and encouragement to work though this conservative treatment plan (no surgery or braces!). Phyllis and the office staff are great to work with and knowledgeable as well. If you struggle with TMD, please see Dr. Yount!

I was diagnosed with TMD (temporo-mandibular disorder) July 2013. I had a great dentist who made a night guard for me, and I started physical therapy. After 6 months, I had not made sufficient progress. My dentist, physical therapist, and myself discussed this. We decided that I should see Dr.Yount. I went through an extensive treatment plan with Dr. Yount. He also made a new night guard/splint for me, which is extremely beneficial. I completed the treatment plan June 2014. I was ecstatic! I never thought I would have full recovery, but I did! I will continue to wear the night guard indefinitely to help prevent any further issues. Thank you very much, Dr. Yount. I also want to thank Phyllis at Dr. Yount's office. She is always pleasant and very helpful with the paperwork.

Dr. Yount was very helpful in guiding me through managing facial/jaw pain from an accident involving smashing my face on the ocean floor (at least I was having fun.) His willingness to listen to my needs and concerns, the materials he provided, and the mouth appliance he made all have contributed to a reduction in my pain and helped me better manage my pain. I would highly recommend Raleigh Facial Pain Center. One thing to know in advance: he does not file insurance (you can get forms to file yourself and his services do qualify as medical not dental) and payment in full is due at each visit. It was expensive, but well worth it. I am in New Bern NC and Dr. Yount was known to and well thought of by my dentist, endodontist, and physical therapist.

Very Positive! I was treated for tinnitus and TMJ. Dr.Yount helped me with both problems by treating me with a plan that included physical theropy, bio-feedback, and medication as needed. He also provided written material and counseling that helped me better understand how I could deal with my problems in the future. I feel much better after being treated at Raleigh Facial Pain Center. I would recommend Raleigh Facial Pain Center to anyone that wants an alternative to just medication alone. His total plan for understanding my situation was a positive force in treating my pain. (Gail Shearin)
